LULAC Iowa becomes the eleventh statewide organization to call for an end to the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthiest 2%
Des Moines, Iowa – Progress Iowa announced today that the League of United Latin American Citizens of Iowa (LULAC Iowa) is joining the Iowans for Tax Fairness coalition, becoming the eleventh organization to call on Congress to end the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthiest 2% and protect middle and working class Iowans.
“LULAC Iowa is calling on Congress to not drop the ball on the middle class,” said Joe Enriquez Henry, state director of LULAC Iowa. “Every Iowan and American should pay their fair share, and unfortunately the rules have been stacked against everyday Iowans for too long. If we enter the new year without Congressional action, the impact on middle class Hispanic and Latino families in Iowa would be devastating.”
“Every day, more middle and working class Iowans are taking notice that Congressional Republicans are doing nothing to prevent us from going over the fiscal cliff,” said Matt Sinovic, Executive Director of Progress Iowa. “We are proud to work with LULAC Iowa and all of ourcoalition organizations in this effort to end the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthiest 2% and to stand up for the middle class.”
LULAC Iowa joins Progress Iowa, along with other members of the Iowans for Tax Fairness coalition: AFSCME Iowa Council 61, Iowa Federation of Labor AFL-CIO, Iowa Alliance for Retired Americans, Iowa Citizen Action Network, Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, Working Families Win, SEIU Local 199, South Central Iowa Federation of Labor, and Citizens for a Healthy Iowa.
