Progress Iowa released the following statement from Executive Director Mazie Stilwell:
“Iowans proved that when we organize and remain focused on our message, we win. For months, everyday Iowans showed up at forums, shared their stories, and had honest conversations with their neighbors about what’s really at stake. These wins weren’t handed to us. They were made possible by nurses and teachers, farmers and small business owners, parents and retirees who believe Iowa should work for the people who live here, not the wealthy few. Iowa voters have chosen change, and balance has been restored. We are ready to continue holding our leaders accountable to deliver what Iowans voted for: lower costs for working families, health care that’s there when you need it, fully funded public schools, and an economy where the ultra-wealthy don’t get tax breaks funded by cuts that hurt everyday people. Iowans didn’t just change who holds power, they changed what that power is for.”
