Remember: lead with a value, define the opposition, and end with a call to action.

Overview: Today the Iowa Supreme Court blocked Gov. Reynolds’ effort to ban abortion at six weeks. Legislation to ban abortion at six weeks was originally passed in 2018 but was ruled unconstitutional and never went into effect. Gov. Reynolds’ requested the court reconsider that ruling.

The Headline: Iowans overwhelmingly support the right to access abortion and today Iowa’s Supreme Court protected that freedom and blocked MAGA Gov. Reynolds’ six-week abortion ban. This is a great day for Iowans, but we know the work is far from done. We will continue to fight for our freedoms and against attacks from MAGA Republicans in Iowa to ban abortion.

The Message: Iowans are compassionate people who value the right to abortion and to make personal, private decisions without politicians interfering. That’s why we have worked tirelessly to protect this right. Today we celebrate that Iowa’s courts have stood up for our freedoms based on the state constitution. But we also know the work is far from over, that Gov. Reynolds and other MAGA Republicans who want to outlaw abortion in Iowa want to change both the courts and the constitution. They’re trying to take away our freedom and the right to decide what’s best for our lives and our families. As supporters of abortion access, we are the majority and we aren’t going anywhere. It will take all of us in this fight to secure the freedom to be in charge of our bodies and safely care for ourselves, our families, and our communities.

The Tweet:

Today the Iowa Supreme Court agreed that our bodies are none of @IAGovernor’s business!!! But, the fight is never over. That’s why I’ll always fight for our reproductive rights & you should too! #Iowa
